Tips for Common Childhood Illnesses 2
Labial Adhesion
Labial adhesion occurs in young girls when the inner vaginal lips fuse to each other. It often gives the appearance that the opening of the vagina has closed off. Because the vulva area is often wet, it easily leads to inflammation, that causes labial adhesion. If the adhesion continually covers the openings of urethra and vagina, it may also cause difficulty passing urine, cystitis, or vaginitis.
Treatment
Ointment
Use steroid for a few weeks, the adhesion should be easily peeled off. Only open the legs may be not easy to see the labial adhesion. Well open the vulva area to apply ointment to labial adhesion.
Incision
If ointment treatment is not successful, an incision is necessary. Incision can be performed at a clinic. No need for residential treatment.
Precautions
Because the adhesions would reoccur, it is important to well clean vulva area when taking a bath. Often check if an adhesion occurs.
