| 6 June 2006 -- As many people have been injured, WHO is developing an emergency plan with the Indonesian Ministry of Health to provide pre-emptive tetanus-diphtheria immunization to some 1.3 million people in the earthquake affected areas. WHO is also mobilizing teams for post-surgical care. Elderly people require greater care as they are particularly vulnerable, and prone to infections and delayed healing. |
